I don’t think it is possible to go back to these industries. I think Bombardier has the market for North America.

Boeing was in the passenger train business, building the “US Standard Light Rail Vehicle”, which was a MISERABLE failure. They did build a successful series of subway cars for chicago, but were underbid on all other attempts.

Though GE, and for that matter Electro-Motive Diesele, are well known for their locomotives, getting into the passenger car market which is held in a tight grip by Bombardier and Kawasaki would be a nightmare.
