Toy Train

Toy Train

This one’s for Matt, so he’ll stop bugging me about adding transit photos for the Blast Camera Club word pool assignment.

Let’s see, what did I do…

1. Found the toy train (amazing what you’ll find when you’re unpacking boxes looking for something else)
2. Took piece of paper from printer
3. Set up paper on table by the front window to create a plain white background
4. Set camera to Av priority mode
5. Set aperture to f2.8 partially because I wanted a shallow DoF, and partially because the natural light was fading fast. Ideally I’d have liked a little more depth so the eyes would be in focus (f4.0 or even f5.6)
6. Took a couple of shots, then realized my camera was at ISO800… oops
7. Changed ISO to 100 and tried again. This was shot 3 of 10 (the first two were at ISO800), which goes to show that more isn’t necessarily better
8. Edited in iPhoto as follows:
a) Adjust exposure +0.99
b) Click ‘Enhance’ (I’m not sure what this does, but I think it might be akin to ‘Auto Levels’ in Photoshop)
9. Edited in Photoshop to get rid of ugly yellow shadow in top right corner
10. Done
