Watch in High Definition! During the fun run at the La Mesa Model Railroad Club’s HO Gauge Tehachapi Layout at the San Diego Model Railroad Museum, we had a 3 way meet at the Tehachapi Loop. I positioned the camera just outside of tunnel 10 facing the loop. Trains: Train 1: The westbound Union Pacific refrigerator train emerges from tunnel 10 and begins descending the main track into the loop, stopping at the end of double track. The train is overlength and and the end hangs out of the siding. Led by Union Pacific Mopac Heritage Unit SD70ACe 1982. Trailing are Union Pacific (ex. GE demonstator) ES44AC 7605, ES44AC 5477 and SD70ACes 8419 and 8402. Train 2: The eastbound BNSF intermodal train pulls into the siding and clears to allow the Union Pacific to continue down the hill. Led by Santa Fe SD75M 227. Trailing are BNSF SD75I 8297 and SD75M 8270. Train 3: My train, a westbound BNSF intermodal train, follows the Union Pacific. It pulls up to the east Walong signal after the Union Pacific gets into the loop, waits for the UP to clear the loop, then proceeds on an approach signal, allowing the other BNSF to proceed. Led by BNSF C44-9W 4929. Trailing are BNSF SD40 6304, and C44-9Ws 684 and 4435. Visit www.bnsffan.webs.com for more awesome railfanning stuff! Enjoy!
