KPTV Xmas Train IDs.mpg 1990

The Way We Were, 20 years ago at KPTV-TV in Portland, OR. Every year we produced “Christmas IDs” for the station breaks…in 1990 and 1991, we used my Lionel train as a background for the employee ‘wave and smile’. It took over two months each year to set up the trains in my living room…then we spent two or three days shooting with a ‘lipstick camera’ to capture all of the backgrounds and then another week or so in the studio adding the live people and editing the whole thing together. It’s fun to see the old faces again! Alex and Hunt helped light and shoot the models; the Late Great Marty Landeen was the principle photographer; John LaRue added something special and uniquely “Lash” to every scene as the Editor/Technical Director. Patricia T and the other Floor Directors painted all those blue blocks and hauled them around the studio. And Thanks to the Unknown Video Guys who set up the Ultimatte chroma keys…they labor in darkness and obscurity, but shouldn’t be forgotten! There was Good Energy at KPTV in the early 90’s. A Merry Xmas to all of you and thanks for being good sports about this project! PS: Pass the URL along to anyone who might be interested…LB
