Look in Yellow Pages and visit hobby shops — ask questions.

Search the Internet. Search on eBay to see if anyone is selling trains and see their prices. Research at the library.

Do NOT leave your train with anyone while they research it!

Remember, too, once it’s sold, it’s gone. Take lots of pictures.

What’s wrong with my lionel?

Tuesday, January 29th, 2013

Question by Christine: What’s wrong with my lionel?
I bought my son a lionel train a few christmas’s ago. It’s the new york central flyer. We set it up and he didn’t touch the buttons to make the sounds and the bell was going off and the whistle was going off. It would go on non-stop. He was really upset that his train is possibly broken. Please help tell me what is wrong with it.

What’s the fastest way to teach my nephews the meaning of the word respect?

Question by Gloria: What’s the fastest way to teach my nephews the meaning of the word respect?
My brother’s boys are staying at my house for a week and all they want to do is act like little macho monsters, running around pretending to attack each other in violent re-enactments of how European settlers committed genocide and rape against Native Americans (they call it “Cowboys and Indians”).

How can I teach them respect for women and Native Americans within one short week?

tell them everybody is equal because we are all the same but just look different from eachother. It is wrong the way they treat others and they should treat others how they would like to be treated

Whats with people calling all non-digital things analog?

Tuesday, September 18th, 2012

Question by Trevor: Whats with people calling all non-digital things analog?
Real photos are now analog photos as opposed to digital photos. Wired magazine is calling a model railroad “an analog sims”.

Answer by Mike
“Digital” means that something – a voice, a picture, for example, has been digitised, ie, turned into numbers. Usually quite a lot of numbers. It can then be transmitted and saved with minimal loss of quality. It also allows the use clever arithmetic to make the thing smaller, regenerate it, find patterns in it, and so on.

“Analogue” means that something (a light level, a sound pressure) is represented by something else (a density of silver in a photograph, a voltage leaving a microphone). There are no numbers, just a smooth, continuous variation of one thing as it follows another. But this “following” won’t be exact – there will always be errors, noise, limits to the working range (saturation) and so on.

So nearly all real-world things, when they are to be transmitted or stored, start life as analogue signals. If they never get digitised, one could call them “analogue”. A model can be an analogue of a real-life (“prototype”) railway or aircraft: the “analogue” conversion then is from one length to another, often smaller length. The model can simulate the real thing, to a different scale. So that usage is justified, if a bit unusual.

In summary, if something is “digital”, it simply means that it has been digitised somewhere in the chain. It usualy gets converted back to analogue before being viewed, heard, or felt.

Whats my voice type?Tenor Baritone Bass?

Saturday, March 10th, 2012

Question by : Whats my voice type?Tenor Baritone Bass?
I’m a 17 yr old male. I look up alot of information about singing and still cant find my type. When doing scales without trying to start on any note i usually start on E3 gotta force myself to start any lower. Does the passgio crack on the note before what you cracked to get to that note or the note itself. If its the note before i think i have a passgio of C#4 or D4 would be where i completely crack and i noticed my voice begins to change in pitch as if its getting higher around but theres no complete crack.F#4 or G4. I usually lose my voice after A4. while scaling. But if i just go for my highest note i easily hit a C5. .nice sharp and ringing. i feel as if my voice can go higher but sadly i cannot produce that result.the lowest i can go is g#2 and i mean lowest i have to change my face and push down as hard as i can. it usually sounds airy. People say i have a deep speaking voice. i talk on a b2 level it sounds like theres a little fry in there. idk ive read other peoples saying there voices are like that because they forced down before puberty. i did the same as well my cousin whos younger then me by a couple of months hit it before me and to compete since i was older i felt i should have a deeper voice and forced myself to talk deeper before i hit puberty and now my voice has been use to speaking soft and low. Ive had no vocal training this is all natural. Can anyone help me out
I dont force my voice down anymore i did it when i was 13. I dont really understand the passgio thing but i heard theres supposed to be 2. How can i find the other one. Overall i would say my range is (G2-G4) Extremes would be (C5highest an F2 lowest in the morning when im groggy)
i was wrong i usually dont warm-up before i scale i did a few warming up techniques and my highest note was C5all connected. Also durin the siren technique i hit F5

Sorry man, this is the best I can do.

It will tell you in the end though, if you can deduce it.
Most people judge by what they can produce easiest, the higher notes, or the lower.

Why don’t you look for choirs to join, even your church choir? The chorister will quickly determine what sort of voice range you have, and you cannot have a tenor baritone bass, but either a tenor, baritone, or bass.

As you work on your singing also consider in focusing upon your English classes in more detail.

This view lets you see what’s on the top. The rear unit looks very short but it’s just the effect of the telephoto lens.

After many delays, this train entered scheduled service on Friday 25th March 2011. The front unit of this pair is numbered FP4103 and the rear unit FT4103.
