old postwar lionel outfit help?

Monday, October 15th, 2012

Question by nascar_mnmkid: old postwar lionel outfit help?
I recently bought a old postwar lionel train outfit…..I was wondering if anyone could help me find any information on it?(any manuals, instructions, or websites that would have a replacement motor, the one that it came with is burn out and doesn’t work)I contacted lionel.com with no avail and Brasseur electric trains didn’t have much but the engine order # which they do not sell. on the outfit box there is NO.19563. and the engine is a #241
Also while doing research of my own i found a picture(link below) of the same one (mine is just not near this good condition and is missing some things).

Any information would be great
Thanks

How can I tell if my O-gauge Lionel train set is pre-war or post-war?

Wednesday, April 11th, 2012

Question by plainswalker: How can I tell if my O-gauge Lionel train set is pre-war or post-war?
I believe it is pre-war, because my father bought it used in 1947. I have an engine, coal car, 2 passenger cars, and a caboose. The passenger cars have lights inside and as I recall, you can do something to get the engine to puff smoke out of the stack. Thanks for your help!
