Have one of those dreams you never forget about? Even after decades?

Question by Fatefinger: Have one of those dreams you never forget about? Even after decades?
I have 2. One was about my cousin. He used to have a lot of exotic fish and pets and old lionel trains back when I was little. Had a dream about it, never forgot.

The next one involved aliens. As in extraterrestrial. And yes I have thought about that possibility.

I have to fly next month and have never done it before. What do you see out the window?

Question by happydawg: I have to fly next month and have never done it before. What do you see out the window?
I am supposed to get on a Boeing 737 and fly from Indianapolis to LasVegas and have never been on a moving plane in the air before. Tell me about what I will see, feel, hear and everything you know. If we fly over my home area, will I be able to see the familiar landmarks if it is a clear day.

Being on a plane feels pretty much like being on a bus. If you look out window, you might just see clouds, but you can see land if it’s clear. I always find it hard to pick out landmarks. Sometime the pilot will announce some really special landmarks. Sometimes there will be turbulence, but it isn’t scary. Just think of it as bumps in the road. Enjoy your flight! And bring a snack. Food on flights can really be terrible sometimes, but they will have free soda, juice, water, etc.

What are your “New Year” resolutions that you never ever managed to fulfill?

Sunday, January 1st, 2012

Question by Paulo Coelho: What are your “New Year” resolutions that you never ever managed to fulfill?
One of the favorite questions of the journalists : ” now that you got everything you wanted, do you still have dreams?”

First, I didn’t get everything I wanted, although I got the most important things in life (love, fulfilling my personal legend, faith). Writing is a constant challenge, where you have to dig into your soul, having discipline, inspiration, and courage at the same time.

Second, like everybody else, I have my list of things that I want to do, and are still waiting. I don’t make “New Year’s” resolutions, but there are several unfulfilled tasks. I have enough time (contrary to the legend that famous people are always busy – they are not), I can afford, but I postpone.

Here is my list of things that I would love to do, and I never did. Would you please also share yours?

A]to learn how to dance well (from a 1 to 10 scale, I would say I am 2)

B] to learn how to play guitar ( from the same scale, I am definitely 1)

C] spend three months in a monastery, totally isolated from the world ( I already talked to the abbot three years ago, but I am always postponing)

D] a safari in Africa (politically incorrect, of course)

E] to sponsor a good boxer (I know it sounds politically incorrect, as the previous item, but boxing for me is the ultimate body dialogue)

F] to learn boxing myself

G] being in orbit circling the planet (the Russians are making a business out of it, but I never actually sought the information out)

H] to have dinner with Nelson Mandela (this one I tried, but I did not manage so far)

I] to fly a Mirage (as a passenger, of course)

While writing this list, I realized that I did most of the things I wanted (the most recent being a 9.280 kms train journey from Moscow to Vladivostok, in 2006). And probably I also have some other itens that are so hidden in my heart that I don’t even know. But just in case that I remember some more, I will update this list.

So, what are your “New Year” resolutions that you never ever managed to fulfill?

Discover Things You Never Knew About Model Trains

Tuesday, September 27th, 2011

Have you ever wondered what the terms “scale” and  “gauge”  mean to model trains?  What the letters mean on a model train set?  Which size of model trains is right for you?  In the following paragraphs, we will answer for these questions relating to model trains.  So sit back and enjoy the ride of your favorite model train!

“Scale” as defined in terms of model trains is the comparative ratio of measurements between a model train and its full size prototype.  Large scale model trains are the largest model trains.

In the language of model trains, “gauge” refers to the space between the rails of track.  “O” gauge model trains are the largest gauge of model trains followed by “S gauge model trains.  About half the size of “O” gauge model trains are “HO” gauge model trains.  After “HO” comes “N” gauge model trains followed by the smallest, the “Z” gauge model trains.

So which of the wide variety of model trains is right for you?  A big determining factor for most model railroaders is available space,  I believe this is what makes “HO” model trains the most popular form of model railroading.  “HO” model trains are small enough to be in a small space, but yet are big enough to allow you to work with easily and people can see what they have created.  “HO” model trains are over sixty percent of the model trains market.  If you don’t have much space to work with, “N” model trains might be right for you.  For the really adventurous model trains enthusiast, the large scale garden model trains are probably the one for you.  You can use your backyard for the landscape of your model trains.  What a great deal for you!

Model trains of every different scale and gauge will be perfect for someone.  Choose the model train that is right for you and happy railroading.
