Lost Train Layout – Mike’s Trainland

Here is video of Mike’s Trainland back when my family visited in December 1992. Mike’s Trainland, located in Suffolk Virginia, consisted of a train store and a large museum consisting of several model railroad layouts. The kid you see in the green and red jacket is me at age 5. Mike’s Trainland closed in 1998 and the toy train collection was split up. For more information on this awesome train museum that is no more, please see the links provided below: Highlights: 00:00 Large Playmobil layout 00:42 Lionel Train layout 01:08 Mixture of large scale layouts. This might be a long shot, but try asking this at the site www.boardgamegeek.com. I realize it isn’t a board game, but the people there tend to be really good at finding stuff like this.

Lost Gardens -The Art of Ben Blatt

“My influences range from Persian miniatures to Dutch still lifes; terrariums and model train sets to aquariums and bonsai trees; things that are generally considered private and personal obsessions. I am always searching for contained and controlled beauty, the kind found suspended in the artificial and spectacular worlds of theme parks, old science books, history museum pamphlets, and field guides. I try to mutate or regenerate these kaleidoscopic introversions in hopes of painting a self-sustaining and boundless world.” (Ben Blatt) Music: Detektivbyrån – Rymden I En Låda
