Theodore Roosevelt, Jr. (IPA: /ˈroʊzəvɛlt/; October 27, 1858 – January 6, 1919), also known as T.R., and to the public (but never to friends and intimates) as Teddy, was the twenty-sixth President of the United States, and a leader of the Republican Party and of the Progressive Movement. He became President of the United States at the age of 42. He served in many roles including Governor of New York, historian, naturalist, explorer, author, and soldier. Roosevelt is most famous for his personality: his energy, his vast range of interests and achievements, his model of masculinity, and his “cowboy” persona. His last name, often mispronounced in his day before he and his relatives made it famous, is, per Roosevelt, “pronounced as if it were spelled ‘Rosavelt’, in three syllables, the first syllable as if it was ‘Rose.'”[2][3][4] As Assistant Secretary of the U.S. Navy, he prepared for and advocated war with Spain in 1898. He organized and helped command the 1st U.S. Volunteer Cavalry Regiment, the Rough Riders, during the Spanish-American War. Returning to New York as a war hero, he was elected Republican governor in 1899. He was a professional historian, a lawyer, a naturalist and explorer of the Amazon Basin; his 35 books include works on outdoor life, natural history, the American frontier, political history, naval history, and his autobiography.[5]

In 1901, as Vice President, the 42 year-old Roosevelt succeeded President William McKinley after McKinley’s assassination. He is the youngest person to become President (John F. Kennedy is the youngest elected President). Roosevelt was a Progressive reformer who sought to move the dominant Republican Party into the Progressive camp. He distrusted wealthy businessmen and dissolved forty monopolistic corporations as a “trust buster”. He was clear, however, to show he did not disagree with trusts and capitalism in principle but was only against corrupt, illegal practices. His “Square Deal” promised a fair shake for both the average citizen (through regulation of railroad rates and pure food and drugs) and the businessmen. As an outdoorsman, he promoted the conservation movement, emphasizing efficient use of natural resources. After 1906 he attacked big business and suggested the courts were biased against labor unions. In 1910, he broke with his friend and anointed successor William Howard Taft, but lost the Republican nomination to Taft and ran in the 1912 election on his own one-time Bull Moose ticket. Roosevelt beat Taft in the popular vote and pulled so many Progressives out of the Republican Party that Democrat Woodrow Wilson won in 1912, and the conservative faction took control of the Republican Party for the next two decades.

Roosevelt negotiated for the U.S. to take control of the Panama Canal and its construction in 1904; he felt the Canal’s completion was his most important and historically significant international achievement. He was the first American to be awarded the Nobel Prize, winning its Peace Prize in 1906, for negotiating the peace in the Russo-Japanese War.

Historian Thomas Bailey, who disagreed with Roosevelt’s policies, nevertheless concluded, “Roosevelt was a great personality, a great activist, a great preacher of the moralities, a great controversialist, a great showman. He dominated his era as he dominated conversations….the masses loved him; he proved to be a great popular idol and a great vote getter.”[6] His image stands alongside Washington, Jefferson and Lincoln on Mount Rushmore. Surveys of scholars have consistently ranked him from third to seventh on the list of greatest American presidents.

being an air hostess. is training really important as a pre req for recruitment?

Question by : being an air hostess. is training really important as a pre req for recruitment?
im 5’7″, done modelling earlier (only to pay for my own fees while in college) and currently pursuing animation studies. but now i am tired of my animation course and the guys are far more talented than my student work and i feel demoralised and accept that while animation industry may b tough for me, job of an air hostess might prove to be better for me.
i know that i am well groomed, know the ethics and meet all the requirements for an air hostess. i am also aware that the job is only glamorous on the outside and that, an air hostess has to take rude passengers in her stride and yet b as polite and stuff..
i have heard about various air hostess training n grooming institutes that help the girls get through with interviews and get selected. but i dont intend to do that because i feel most of them are only doing business and cheat the girls with high course fees.
i would like to know if the airlines’ recruiters only select candidates who have done the grooming courses from those “air hostess training” sort of institutes, or can i walk into an interview right away?
kindly let me know.
i am already 22.. in2-3years, even airlines wont look at me for recruitment, lol. so i need to make a quick decision..
thanx. . 🙂 all answers will b appreciated and the rude ones shall b reported. lol
please be genuine. i alone know right now how confused i am. thank you once again.

Airline jobs are hard to get because they pay good benefits but there are quite a few airlines so you can try other airlines than the one you applied to, I think you still have a chance.

Flight attendant schools are a complete waste of money. Apply directly to the airlines that interest you. All airlines have a Careers section on their websites, though sometimes you have to search for it, and this area lists the requirements for flight attendants. Generally, apart from being over 18, you need to have graduated high school and have a first aid certificate. Knowing a second language also helps. Once you’re accepted by an airline you go through a training course, and that’s all you need to know. Save your money, and go straight to the airlines.

i had some cousin do the training a few years back. It’s more then just grooming. it trains you in how to use all the safety equipment on the plane and stuff. which gets you certain certifications which i believe you need to have. Even with all the certifications he still wasn’t able to get a job though because the airlines just really aren’t hiring much for it. So for the positions that do open, the one with the more certifications and trainings looks the best to hire.

good luck. sorry i couldn’t remember more detail from when he was telling me all about it

In the U.S., all you need is a high school diploma or GED to qualify. Since the airlines will be training you, there is no need to go through additional courses. Being able to speak another language will be to your benefit and any experience you have in dealing with customers is always good as well.

Hi,

My belief is that the many deportment and training institutes are into a ‘numbers’ game; a waste of your time and money.

From what I have seen on TV, all Airlines train their cabin staff. You sound confident and believe you have all the necessary attributes, so my suggestion is – make an application and go for it.

As a Job-Search trainer, I always advise my students to make a ‘Speculative Job Application’ because it is the very best way to secure gainful employment.

Other suggestion: Visit your local airport, bail up one or more air-hostesses – they’re friendly, and ask how they commenced their careers with their airline. Ask the questions you need to ask (have your questions pre-prepared), and when you have finished, ask this one last question: “Is there anything else I need to know?” It is always useful to know the name and title of the person that you should write to as it makes your application more personal. Equally, when you have occasion to do some ‘follow-up’ you can ask for that person by name.

Always ask to be ‘put through to name’ because that infers that you know or believe him/her to be in their office. Don’t be shy about saying good stuff about yourself – you gotta fly your own flag!

As a passenger, I am always impressed by their efficient and friendly attitude.

Best wishes for your career.

If you can’t hit the note right just practice the line in different notes til you get it right and make it your own, it’s not improvising that way either.

While preparing the model railway layouts plan 1 need to first decide on what scale they are going to build the train along with the gauge. These issues might be decided on the basis on just how much space left and just how much of the left space you want to construct.

When you decide on the space, you need to determine on the background settings on develop the model railway. In case if you are planning the backdrop as farm then you’ll need style the model railway layouts plans based on the background setting you might have decided for your model railway. As there will considerable difference between all background settings.

So the type of train you might be willing to have will mostly determine on the background you’ll be able to use for your model railway.

In case in case you are willing to have train that carried goods, then the business set up will likely be great. Also the setting up of an business layout needs really tiny space, while comparing to the city based background or jungle background for passenger and touring trains.

And this brings to another interesting point on just how much length we need to set up the carriages in the model railway layouts plans. The Most Important Factors When Choosing Model Train Layout Plans

Monday, July 25th, 2011

If you’ve decided that you’re finally going to take on that childhood dream of yours and build your own model railway, then this will take careful research and planning. While designing your model trains layout plans, you’ll need to take a number of important considerations into account.

To begin with you will want to think about what model train scale and gauge you want to use to design and build your model railway and this will again be determined by a few different factors. These are things like how much space you have, how much you want to fit on your layout and what scale best suits your personal needs (You can find more about choosing the best model train scale for you in one of my other articles).

You will also want to think about what type of scene you want to set for your railway and what scenery and backdrops you will create for your model railroad. For example, the model train layout plans for a fiddle yard, will differ greatly to those of a mountain village setting, or an inner city monorail.

]]>

This also leads on to the next point nicely, which is what model railway trains you are actually interested in. If you are collecting a lot of freight trains, then this will have an influence on what scenery you will be building for it, which again in turn will have an effect on the type of model train layout plans you will design.

Freight trains lend themselves better to industrial scenery, which can be fitted on a smaller plans, with more switching options, going backwards and forwards along the same tracks, such as a fiddle yard shelf layout. However, longer passenger trains work better in larger layouts where they have a longer track to travel along.

Again, this brings up another point, which is the length of your carriages and the size of your layout, paying particular consideration to the radius of the curves. If you have longer carriages such as modern passenger trains, these will have a longer wheelbase than an old freight wagon and your model railway layout plans will therefore need to have more gradual turns so that the trains don’t derail all the time.

If you hadn’t already realized, you will now be able to see that there are a lot of different factors that will influence your decisions as to which model train layout plans you will want to use for you model railroad and each of these will have an effect on the next. Therefore, the best advice I can give to anyone who wants to build their own model railway is to do a lot of research first and have a clear plan of exactly what you want to build from the start. That way, you will be a lot more focused on your build and far more likely to succeed with achieving your dream model railway layout.
