Free Model Railroad Layout Software?

Question by Ian96: Free Model Railroad Layout Software?
Hi, I am currently having a hard time finding model railroad layout software. I use HO scale. Is there any free software available that doesn’t have any limitations? I need to plan out a really big layout and don’t want any software where the number of parts you can put in your layout is limited. Thanks.

Hi, try visiting Rail Serve. There is software called: 3D Model Railway. There is also RailDriver. Good luck!

Where to get free online instructions/manuals for 1952 Lionel train?

Question by Desidarius: Where to get free online instructions/manuals for 1952 Lionel train?
My dad and I are trying to restore his boyhood train set, a 1952 Lionel train (2025 K-4 Pacific Steam Engine). It is in pretty good condition, it works but I’m not clear on maintenance issues like cleaning and lubricating it. Does anyone know of any websites that offer online manuals or instructions on restoring these old trains?

You may have a great deal of trouble finding this. I’d start by looking on ebay and even posting one of their Want It Now requests.

There is something else you could do, though. There are clubs for train collectors all over the country. Check with an antique shop or run a search online for Lionel collectors. When you find someone, ask them for advice or at least the name of someone who might help you. These guys invest all sorts of money and time into their sets and they don’t want to see you misuse or abuse the one you’re working on. They may even know where you can guy a manual.

Did you also try Lionel’s website? I have to assume that you did that first, but in case you didn’t…

Question by JML: Does anyone know where I can find free layouts for model railroads.?
I am putting together a railroad layout and I am looking for layout ideas, that I can kind of pattern my layout after. My benchwork is about 4′ deep and about 16′ long, and I have it in the shape of an L. Any ideas I would appreciate.
I didn’t mention, it is an HO scale layout

You didn’t mention the gauge trains that you have. We have wooden trains (Thomas/Brio) and we like the Dazy layouts:

Hope this helps, and have fun!
