How do I find out the brand of electric fence dog collar I have?

Tuesday, March 5th, 2013

Question by SillyBilly: How do I find out the brand of electric fence dog collar I have?
I have n electric fence dog collar with no brand name on it. it has an fcc sticker and on it it has “SWR4”, “LDT-205”, “CAN 2721R-LDT205”, and thats it, with a push button on/off and a place that tells you how to replace batteries. How would I tell what fence or brand it goes with?

You may want to try calling a few different pet fence companies & asking them about the LDT part number. That sounds familiar. Try “tri-tronics” or “pet-tronics”

How can i keep my dog from digging at the fence?

Saturday, February 16th, 2013

Question by $ Farm$ AddictZ$ : How can i keep my dog from digging at the fence?
There is a dog next door, and he has eaten through the fence, and he has dug under it. It is a female dog that was in heat, but now is spayed. Now she smells like she is in heat is what our neighbors said. Could you give me ideas (Besides electric fences/collars) because i find the electric cruel to a dog, because my grandmother had a dog like that but it always got hurt from it and i dont want that to happen to my puppy (he is a 6 month old Norwegian Elkhound) Thanks!

wether to go with a traditional fence or electric. What are the pros and cons? What companies do you recommend? What arethe costs? Any information you give me would be very beneficial. I have a chihuahua, a yorkie , and a 40 pound golden retriever. I like the wooded look of my yard.

Sry i cant tel l you brands an stuff, but i would reccomend an electric fence- my neighbors have one for their dog and its great! Thier dog is big and scary haha so ik he wont be crossing into my yard. After they are trained, the fences are awsome, becuase u dont have to put up a normal fence and ruin the look of your yard.

What is the best electric dog fence to use?

Wednesday, December 26th, 2012

Question by Ashley: What is the best electric dog fence to use?
I would like to purchase a electric dog fence but do not know which kind to get. My dogs do not run out in the street now but they are getting bigger and I would like to train them using a fence.

Best answer:

Answer by ablex
One works just as well as any other, and none work unless you put some serious time and effort into training the dogs. The shock they get when they approach the barrier is just a reminder, like if you were there telling the dog “no”. Some dogs are stubborn enough to ignore them and go through anyway. I had one that would take the shock to go after a squirrel – a high prey drive and a high pain tolerance made the fence useless.
Remember too that a fence of that type doesn’t keep other animals out, so stray dogs can still enter your yard and possibly injure your dogs.
I’ve seen them work very well, and I’ve seen them be nothing but a waste of time and money. It really depends on the dog.

How do I keep my Border Collie inside our invisible fence?

Monday, November 26th, 2012

Question by Kevin E: How do I keep my Border Collie inside our invisible fence?
My Border Collie aged 2 was trained to stay inside our invisible fence a year ago but the last few weeks she just runs out and takes the shock. It’s still the same power and frequency, she gets plenty of attention (frisbees, walks, etc) but she still bolts when a person is walking by. The mailman is very upset!

Best answer:

u dig up the fence and put a real fence up. most dogs have a drive that if they see something they dont care what happens to their body they want to get whatever they see. invisible fences r cruel. so get a nice 6 foot tall fence

My dog keeps running through my electric fence?

Friday, November 16th, 2012

Question by Dani T: My dog keeps running through my electric fence?
I have two dogs.
A shi’tzu who is 5 years old.
Also a morky (maltese yorky)
Yesterday the morky ran through our electric fence. Of course we found him soon after. Then agian today he ran through the electric fence agian.

How do i get him to stop?

Extra info….
-Both dogs are fixed.
-We checked and the collars work.

Best answer:

Answer by walking lady RIP Tom
Did you do any training first? If you did and that’s not the problem, you’re not going to fix this. Lots of dogs are more than willing to take the shock to leave. They won’t come back, but they definitely will leave.

These fences also won’t stop other dogs from coming in to fight with your dogs.

Can anyone recommend an electric dog fence?

Tuesday, November 13th, 2012

Question by jess29: Can anyone recommend an electric dog fence?
My dog can escape our fenced in yard. I need her to be safe but I can’t afford to build a bigger fence. Can anyone recommend an electric dog fence. It’s not my first choice, but I’d rather that than escape and her being hit by a car.

Best answer:

Answer by Rayven ~ Life’s a B
You do know there is no guarantee it will work right? And that still won’t change the fact your dog is being left unsupervised and is quite possibly escaping because she’s not getting enough exercise and mental stimulation.

And looking at your question from last month it appears you knew you might not have enough time for your dog and yet you still got it.

Will the electric fence my family just bought stop my dog from running away?

Tuesday, November 6th, 2012

Question by Mr. Teehee: Will the electric fence my family just bought stop my dog from running away?
My dog Deacon has been escaping our yard and running free ever since we got him back in October. We finally had enough of it last week and we bought an electric fence. We only have the shock on level 2, but I don’t think that will hold him. I don’t want to turn it up to level 3, because…… that would hurt (I tested it 😛 ). Do any of you guys know for certain that an electric fence will stop Deacon from running away 100%?

Nope, but I do know that’s animal abuse. Get a fence or a rope or chain or something, jerk!
