On summer Saturdays, there are a number of through trains from Great Yarmouth to London Liverpool Street to cater for the holiday trade. This involves a Class 47 hauling a Class 90 electric loco and coaches over the non-electrified lines from and to Norwich. On arrival back at Norwich, the Class 90 takes the train to London. These are unusual workings as there are no through trains from Great Yarmouth to London, loco hauled trains on the Wherry Line are few and far between and electric locos are not normally seen on non-electrified lines.
Here on 1st August 2009, Direct Rail Services Class 47 No. 47 832 “Solway Princess” hauls Scot Rail Class 90 No. 90 024 on the 8:48 am empty stock working from Norwich Crown Point to Great Yarmouth. It is seen here passing Brundall Station. I guess the Class 90 is a long way from home………
Chesapeake and Ohio HO model Railroad in Bay Area of California. This layout is based upon the prototype and the Main Yard is Hinton West Virginia. You will see a cola drag coming into Hinton Yard, a helper engine added to the end of train in front of caboose and then the train going up the hill to other end of layout. Steam engines use Tsunami sound decoders and Digital system is NCE. (I taped this at 320 with 15 FPS and will record it again at higher resolution someday) Video Rating: 4 / 5
The Pacific Northwest may not have much NASCAR, but it’s the home of NEDRA: The National Electric Drag Racing Association. Come out to the drag strip at the Portland International Raceway for some racing gone green – without a drop of gas. www.opb.org Video Rating: 4 / 5
