Can you control on model railroad with a personal computer without a DCC equipped locomotive?

Tuesday, June 14th, 2011

Question by Benjamin: Can you control on model railroad with a personal computer without a DCC equipped locomotive?
I was wondering if I can control the trains on my O scale or HO scale model railroad without having the locomotives DCC equipped. Is there any software and/or hardware out there that would allow me to do this?
I was thinking that the computer could connect to a regular DC control that alters the electricity to the track, so you could control the train that way. Is there anything out there that could do this?
