Question by Sadie C: What do you collect?
I collect hallmark ornaments, keychains, and mcdonalds happy meals stuff. I also have some old coins. I have 8 silver morgan dollars, the first barble doll, and an old 1953 lionel train. I also have an old american eagle coin and a 1943 steel cent.
Question by Bri: What are good christmas sets to collect?
I’m thinking about starting to collect a Christmas set. Like something that can go on forever. I’m not looking for “just collect ornaments” I’m looking for, “You could collect the village stuff from (brand name)” Here are some things I like that may spark ideas: Village scenes, musical stuff, animated, lights, horses(and animals in general), and yes I celebrate Christmas.
Answer by Phillipe First and foremost…do not collect anything that you don’t like yourself. and don’t believe any ad which says, “collector’s limited edition” thinking that it means the item is going to go up in value. What it really means is that the company will make as much of the product as it has sales for.
Once you start collecting horses, you will wind up with horseshoes, rodeo ropes and saddles…You will also be expected to be able to ride one.
collecting snow globes just means a lot of dust collectors
nativity sets will start to take up too much room after a while.
angels will make you look like a religious nut to visitors
My own favorite is novelty ties. ( I have 40 of them ) and can wear them year round. You could specialize in just Christmas ones…but the musical ones get to be a pain…same tune.
A model railroad!! Diversity and class. You can get the village scene, little horses, and build scenery..
Question by Angel2008: How many of you are crazy about trains? you know take pictures and collect stuff? ?
What got you started and how old were you when you started?
What is it that fascinates you most about trains?
Do you work for a railroad? Do you have a model train track?
What do you collect?
Answer by Trainchaser I got started back when I was 3 years old. My dad would take me out quite often to see the Amtrak train run through town. I can’t really describe what it is about trains that I love, just that it’s big machines moving America. And railroads are an ingenious, yet simple concept.
I mainly take pictures, about 5,000 photos to date. Not many compared to many railfans.
Question by joel_17: I am a 20 year old male looking to collect something exciting and worthwhile. Any ideas?
I am open to any ideas except model railroads and cooking. I really like jellyfish though but do not really want to use them as my collection.

do yourself a favor and check out twohourwargames.com a vastly different style of game that allows you to use any miniatures. I still like the warhammer 40k novels but GW sort of forces you to keep buying new versions of rulebooks and codex’s everything is top dollar and on and on and yes on.
If you don’t keep buying these new rulebooks (interesting that 20+ yrs and they still haven’t come up with something to stay with. Their minis are cool but expensive and now days there are 100’s of great miniature artists.

Check out this game instead it costs less is easier and cooler you don’t need as many miniatures so you can get some of each and easily play solo;co-op or head up. You can also search the web and see how many other cool mini’s are out there equally as nice and cheaper. I used to play Britonians and Skaven but experience has taught me better If you knew all the evil that GW has done in the past to there fans who need a WIDE open wallet all the hassles that they now put their distributers through (the people who built the empire for them have become 2nd class now that they have their own stores.
Whatever you choose to do; Happy Gaming!!

Some people collect toy trains as a hobby. For others only real ones will do! A Swiss model collector started buying and restoring real historic trains. After a few years he founded an association, which now run its trains on some Swiss railway tracks. The trains can also be rented out for special occasions. (TSR-swissinfo.ch) Video Rating: 5 / 5
Question by Roy L: Are there any Model Railroaders out there that collect MTH Illinois Central passenger trains?
I collect “O” Gauge MTH Illinois Central Cars and engines. I presently have a set of ABA E6’s and E8’s. and a full consist for each engine set.
I also have a Rail King RS2 and about 20 cars of various road names.
Has anyone had quality issues with their MTH Engines? I have had the E6’s and E8’s in the shop at MTH.
