A short film that shows our levitating train. This model maglev train uses superconductors and magnets to float above the track. The film also features an animation segment explaining the physics that makes it work. —— Film and Music by James Hedberg Produced by the WOW Lab, McGill University Video Rating: 4 / 5
More of some of the same trains at the model railroad museum at balboa park. Train 1: andross51 does a nice little pan shot of amtraktitan455’s coast starlight, great train! Train 2: Interesting consist as both UP and NS engines power this manifest! Train 3: The two UP heritage units and CSX ACE lead this manifest down at the horseshoe curve at caliente. A nice surprise as a BNSF ACE brings up the rear of the train! Train 4: Last train shot at the museum, the coast starlight moves into tunnel 10 at the top of Tehachapi loop! All great trains! shot by xtremepadrefan and andross51! Video Rating: 5 / 5
On may 15th we went up to the Zane Trace & National Trails Model Railroad club May Operation Session. We catch several different trains doing there thing on the layout. The layout is regular DC power and is controlled by a switch board and wireless cabs. I replaced the sound with real train sounds from my trip railfanning which I think makes it fill more realistic. This model train exhibition was held at Polch/Germany on 7 November 2009. Besides some smaller German layouts it offered a very interesting Swiss layout from the Belgian model train club “Hoeseltse treinclub”.
Take a look at Tim Dickinson’s wonderful HO Scale Burlington Northern empire as we follow a grain train, with manned helpers, over the mountain and through numerous yards and staging tracks. While the video shows an overall view of the layout, it’s difficult to get appreciation for the quality level of this railroad without actually seeing it in person. Video Rating: 4 / 5
Visit Tim Dickinson’s HO Scale model train layout for an unusual sight – Norfolk Southern locomotives and TopGon coal cars traversing the line between Spokane and Seattle, Washington. In due time, we’ll cover awesome Burlington Northern action from the mid-70’s on Tim’s layout. Featured in this video are Paul Federiconi and his completely custom, Norfolk Southern Dash9’s. Complete with ALL of the detail you could imagine (including some new Details West NS and Dash9 products), Paul even went as far as adding sound to the models with the correct, custom programmed, K5 horn and air compressor – not currently available on the market. Sound decoder by Loksound. Paul painted the models and used decals from ShellScale Decals (www.shellscale.com) Visit: www.detailswest.com Paul’s Dash9’s pull 36 BLMA Models HO Scale TopGon Coal Cars in smooth, modern fashion.
