CAMPBELL RIVER – A group of North Island hobbyists are putting on a big show this weekend but their display will actually be on a small scale. Model railroaders are taking over the Campbell River museum for two days, an event which normally results in a record number of visitors to the facility. Ken Blackburn, Public Program Coordinator for the museum says the event is popular with visitors of all ages, particularly those who grew up with trains. The group has been making annual appearances at the museum for more than a decade. Model railroader Bill Vanbergen says model railroading has changed significantly over the years noting that more modern systems can now be operated by people’s home computers. He’s hoping more people will gain an interest in the hobby. The display is open at the museum on Saturday January 29th from 12-5 and Sunday January 30th from 12-4.
