@Amtrakeng Well that’s not the case on all railroads. CN in Canada … 1. Non main track – headlight on any setting – dim or extinguished when meeting another movement. 2. Mainline – Bright when moving except when meeting someone – day or night. 3. Trailing end of engine or engine consist – dim – again can be extinguished when meeting someone day or night. 4. Ditchlights must be on when headlight is required to be on bright and headlights must be on bright approaching crossings with no expection
Just so’s ya know, the headlights don’t turn off when you change directions on the real one, both ends, on bright, all the time, unless there is another crew working, or a train passes on the main, dim them only at night..I never turned mine off, ever, unless I was done for the day, I ran those for 17 years on and off…..nice layout…
Thanks. Some will say “sorting” and some say “classifying”.. means the same thing: Setting the cars on designated tracks for a specific train, or trains to pick up.
mtrails I have a question, how is it that when I try to upload a video that has been edited but it would not upload, it says it is the wrong file type, can you help me?
Nice video, I like local switching myself. I would like to ask you what kind of sound system that is. Is that a decoder? If so, what brand? This is the first I’ve heard anything that realistic.
It looks like a nice layout too. Our layout is starting to come ‘back to life’ after much needed repairs.
I have no idea where you get this idea Brody. Most crews prefer to run short hood forward in this type of switcher as it provides better vision for the crew. The SP as a matter of fact made a habit of running them like this.
ESPEE WAS NEVER THAT CLEAN
Awesome video! only thing you’re missing is the horn signals.
Nice job. Good point of view on the camera and switching angles. The sound really added to it!
wow very nice layout good work on it, the scale looks good and does not resemble a “toy like” scenes very nice
@hollywood1340 Well maybe it’s just the NS crews in NC that don’t like to run em cab-forward
@Amtrakeng Also, when you are switching, unless there are crossings around or you simply can’t see there is no need for the lights to be on bright.
@mtrails Turn that bell off!!!! You are using it in a way that it does not need to be used!

They are still pretty great.
They are real sounds edited in.
are those sounds real or from the layout?
Great, now I have to do more CV programming.
Thanks for the information!

Very cool layout section! This might be a great way for a beginner to learn some of the procedures of building and operating a HO model railroad.

Great video Mtrails. I have a question what does it mean to take the cars to the yard for ”classifying”?
Oh sweet thanks… Ill go look right now maybe ill get lucky xD
That is an SW1500 made by Athearn years ago. Atlas and Athearn have recently produced MP15 switchers. You might find them on Ebay.
What mnaker made your swicher? Mines about to die and I like the way yours would fit into my layout
no doubt brother

The sounds you hear are dubbed in using windows movie maker. They are actual sounds that I have recorded here in town. Thanks for the comment!
hey mtrails,
