{13} East Court of the Museum of Science and Industry

It was a busy week and I had a terrible block surrounding the theme, so this is one of the few pictures I took this week.

We went to the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago for an afternoon and I was trying out my new wide angle lens.

This is the East Court of the MSI. Planes are suspended from the ceiling (that is a full size Boeing 727 on the left) and down below is the Great Train Story exhibit which is an enormous model train set.

i found this figure laying on the ground the other day, and it still puzzles me. what is he doing? lacrosse, catching butterflies, cutting a tree, train signal man perhaps (perhaps that makes the most sense, from some model train set)?

he’s now on display outside my front window.

CN 2554 West Leading Potash Train In Saint John, NB 12-30-2011

I won’t go in to great detail with this shot. I wasn’t planning on actually using it, but the footage put together turned out half decent, and I don’t shoot this train very often, so I figured, what the hell. At around 04:50AST, CN 2554, CN 7038 and CN 2445 lead nightly Potash train (CN 594) to Courtnay Bay in Saint John, NB to be set off. These cars will be unloaded, and empty ones will come back for the return trip. This train was actually having brake problems while trying to brake test for leaving. If I wouldn’t have had to work, I would have been able to catch them departing eastbound, in daylight. That in itself would have been rare, but I’ll take what I can get.
