*Question by *: A step-down transformer is to be used to convert an ac voltage of 120V to 6V to power an electric train.?

If there are 300 turns in the primary coil, how many turns shoud there be in the secondary coil?

You need to work with the fact that Voltage Out/Voltage In = Turns in 2nd coil/turns in 1st coil.

Using that, you can sub in the numbers to get:

6/120 = x/300

Rearrange to find x, which is the number of turns in the secondary coil
